Ireland

Well we did it, we finally went to Ireland.  Last summer Lisa and I decided to take a vacation over the Columbus day holiday and head to Ireland.  For a while, between her work and mine we weren't sure if we were going to make it, but we did.  If you're planning a trip, here are a couple pointers.

First, be prepared to drive a stick shift, on the WRONG side of the road, on some of the WORST (bumpy & small) roads in Europe!  Second, pack for warm weather.  We were there in the middle of October and had temperatures in the 70's. We wished we had packed some more light clothes.

Having said that, Ireland was a very beautiful place and much bigger than I had imagined.  Here are a few pictures...

Ross Castle

Muckross House

Blarney Castle

Yes, yes, I kissed the blarney stone.  However, it all happened so fast, no one got a picture.  You have to lay down on your back, grab the bars, puss your self down (backwards) and kiss it.

And, in case you didn't know, legend has it that who ever kisses the blarney stone is bestowed with the gift of eloquence (the gift of gab).  I am sure my student's will appreciate it.

Various Other Pictures

Here is a waterfall and brook that are located close to Muckross House.  Lisa and I walked 4k to get these pictures, we found out later we could have drove and walked only 50 yards.

These are: Old Irish House, Old Bridge, Cliffs of Moor, Irish countryside, and beach.

I took over 130 digital pictures and Lisa took several rolls of film.  We will try and burn a CD and send to family soon.
